Like That Barber Shop allows District of Columbia Primary Care Association (DCPCA) to host a blood pressure clinic at their two D.C. locations, 2704 Marion Barry Avenue, S.E. (formally, Good Hope Road, S.E.) and 1565 Alabama Avenue, S.E. this past summer.
In the Spring of 2023, Like That Barber Shop opened its doors for the “East of the River Book Share” for residents of Ward 8. There was a birdcage full of books, for people of all ages, at the shop on Marion Barry Avenue, S.E. (formerly Good Hope Road, SE). The objective of the book share event was to encourage the customers to increase their reading skills.
This event, sponsored by students from the University of the District of Columbia, was a tremendous success. Customers were able to help themselves to as many books as they liked for free at the book giveaway. Originally scheduled for one day the success of the book-a-thon and the community interest enabled the event to continue for several months.
